The Story of the Angelus Candle
From the original painting entitled, "The Angelus" by Jean-Francois Millet, 1857,
which hangs in the Louvre, Paris.
The German writing on the candle shows the shorter version of the prayer.
The Angelus hymn is usually sung more during the paschal - Easter Season - the church bell rings three chimes in groups of 3's followed by 9 consecutive rings.
First at 6am, then again at 6pm - the usual practice was once the bells were rung, the church members would stop what they were doing and pray 3 Hail Marys in honor of the Immaculate Conception. At Churches, the Choirs would sing the Angelus hymns.
Vatican City still rings the Angelus chimes, along with traditional Monasteries, Convents and Institutions in Ireland.
